This includes travel expenses, coaching, and equipment costs which can be staggering. Typically Olympic campaigners must train full-time, leaving little time for a second job.

The team is a privatized recreation of other countries’ national sailing programs. The team provides considerable resources to its sailors at no monetary cost. This includes boats, sails, trailers, coach boats, and vehicles both in the United States and in Europe. Additionally, the coach is an employee of the team and provides coaching to sailors free of charge. These are just a few ways the team supports sailors.

Oyster Bay 470 dramatically eases the financial burden of Olympic campaigning. This eliminates the biggest barriers to Olympic athletes, allowing them to pursue their dream without going into debt.
