Helping 470 Athletes Make Olympic Dreams Reality

Since 2017, Oyster Bay 470 Team has helped push Olympic hopefuls to the highest levels of international competition.

We are seeking the next generation of motivated athletes to mold into Olympic champions.

A Support System for Athletes

U.S. Olympic sailors face not just athletic challenges but also financial, logistical, and fundraising burdens. In contrast, sailors in other countries, with national federation-sponsored equipment and coaches, can focus solely on their professional sailing careers.

Oyster Bay 470 Team bridges this gap, offering a comprehensive Olympic program allowing sailors to concentrate on sailing.

However, this isn’t a free ride. Sailors must demonstrate the competitive drive and motivation to maximize the resources provided.

Here is what we offer.

Equipment

Oyster Bay 470 Team owns a considerable amount of equipment, including everything needed to train year round. This includes hulls, centerboards, masts, sails, trailers, team vehicles, and coach boats.

Coaching

Oyster Bay 470 Team is coached and managed by two-time Olympian sailor and international coach Yevgeniy Burmatnov. Coach Burmatnov provides a wealth of knowledge and experience to team members.

Our Goal

The team goal is to place a boat on the top podium step at the Olympic Games.

To do that, we need a small group of motivated and hardworking sailors training year-round and full time in the 470. Eventually, sailors will reach the skill level to compete internationally at championships like the Worlds and Europeans.

We understand that Olympic sailing is a big commitment, which is why we offer try-out training camps to prospective members. We also train part-time members in summer and winter while they compete high school and college.
